My Goal

To capture your unique birth story with thoughtful, reflective images that are both beautiful heirlooms and historical record of this once in a lifetime experience.

I believe that all birth, in every form, is powerful.

Birth has a tendency to give moms {and worried partners} a subtle amnesia depending on the circumstances, so a well documented experience is the best way to enhance your recall ability.

"mom, what was in like when I was born?"

believe me, they will ask! There will come a day in the not-so-distant future that you will be so happy to have these moments forever preserved, and my mission is to provide this by combining your art {birth}, with mine {photography}.

Let's Get Personal

I am a mom of 3, and came to professional photography through a long path of life experience. most days you will find me curled up barefoot next to a cat or dog {we are animal lovers} editing photos while talking myself out of garlic knots from our local mario's restaurant. my passions are my children, photography, and saving the world {my corner of it, anyway}. My experience as a social worker has given me valuable insight into human experience, and i bring that to my photography. I am proud to advocate for mothers, and the incredible work they do.

Fun Facts

Favorite movie: "Love actually"

My oldest daughter is named after a character, ask me who! If you haven't seen it, please rent it before contacting me so we can discuss the merits of hugh grant vs. colin firth...{kidding. sort of.}

favorite storefront: etsy

{much love to the crafty moms}

favorite book: "My antonia"

I am one of "those" people with a nightstand full of books, and my husband will tell you this is frighteningly accurate information. topics range from parenting, photography {those 2 are obvious} to non-fiction, fiction, mystery, and much more. i love comedic non-fiction, and david sedaris is my favorite from this category.

ask me for book recommendations while waiting for baby to arrive, thank me later!

Favorite food: carbs

OK, its not technically a food. let's narrow that down to italian and/or mexican. most of the time we try to eat healthy, but if i'm going to splurge after a good long run, its going to be one of those options. I'm a vegetarian, and constantly teased about my dislike of vegetables. I'm trying, people. the struggle is real.

Reasons to Book

For birth more than any other occasion, you need a professional. This is a once in a lifetime photo shoot.

So...what sets storylight Studio apart?

1.)  I am an experienced mom and photographer, familiar with a variety of birth settings. In short, I've got this. I'm familiar with doctors, nurses, birth support staff, and the sometimes hectic environment birth can create. I know how to navigate this happy chaos, and work with families to capture this experience to reflect *your* wishes and vision.

2.)  I have deliberately chosen birth photography as my speciality, which means I am able to uniquely focus on my clients and offer an extremely meaningful client experience.  I am trained in "Birth without Fear" and experienced in working with doulas. I respect ALL forms of birth, without question or judgment. I am honored to be a part of this journey with you.

2.)  This day should very much be about you, your family, and your unique experience. Whether your little one arrives through hospital birth, home birth, or birth center delivery,  I will consult with you every step of the way, answer questions happily, and provide peace of mind when needed.

3.)  Since the birth of my own children, I have been an active advocate for mothers. In my years as a social worker, I was also fortunate to gain experience in lactation consulting and spending time with mothers from all backgrounds in facilitating newborn bonding. This led me to combine my experience with mothers, newborns, and photography into a wonderful profession that never feels like work! I am always learning and growing from each client experience.

4.)  Above all, your safety and comfort come first. This is why every session is tailored toward you, with each detail planned in advance. Cool heads prevail, let's do this!

And the technical reasons...

* storylight studio llc is licensed and insured, which is required by most hospitals.

* I am up to date on vaccinations related to newborn safety {please ask anyone you hire about this - very important}!

* I have fantastic Gear! if you're a gear nerd or just plain interested, drop me a line to learn more. I could talk about lenses for days {ask my kids}. I shoot with a Canon mark iii 5d, and my favorite go to lenses are the canon ef 35mm 1.4, and 50mm 1.4.
